To start, let’s just say that visiting Mykonos is not necessarily for the budget-friendly travel plans. It is an expensive place to stay, eat, go out and galavant.  It is not for the journey-searching go-getter that wants to climb a mountain and treck across the planes of Athens. It is party-central and here’s why:

Greece Sunsets

Literally, One Of Our Favorite Things To Do Every Night

A Little YOU Time

We’ve made a list of the top things to add to your bucket list when you get to Mykonos! Don’t miss out!

Paraportiani Orthodox Church

Located in the neighborhood of Kastro, overlooking the sea – this church is known to be one of the most photographed churches in the world.

The most unique part of this church is that it is a collective of five churches built next to or on top of each other. The first church was built in the late 14th century and the last in the 17th century.

The Windmills

Windmills in Mykonos are an iconic symbol across the ports.  Back in the 16th century, the Venetians built these beautiful picturesque monuments that span across Mykonos in 16 different locations. Besides them being the huge tourist attraction they are today, they actually started out with a true purpose in building the island’s economy by turning grain into flour and grinding corn. Today, they are mainly used as tourist attractions or some have even been turned into homes or museums.

If you are looking for a beautiful skyline view of the sea, find one of these for a real sight to see!

Matoyianni Street

The shopping street of Mykonos located in Chora.

This area is often flocked to by tourists as its filled with plenty of souvenir shops, Greek designer brands, handmade jewelers, food stops and more!

Whether or not you want to spend the money here, it is a great stop along the way to get the full on experience as it’s full with beautiful snap-shot worthy spots of the beautiful architecture of Mykonos.

Besides all of the shopping, you’ll find a great night scene here with tons of bars and nightclubs to party the night away (literally).

Delos

Delos is a small island that can be reached by a ferry from Mykonos. It is known as “…one of the most important archaeology sites in Greece.” From ancient Greek sculptures to artifacts – this island serves as a historical remembrance of a sanctuary to the Greek gods: Apollo and Artemis.

Alefkandra (Little Venice)

Looking for a romantic spot to take your significant other? Check out this beautiful spot.  A great place to capture the perfect sunset, pick up a beautiful piece of artwork from a local artists, enjoy a delicious seaside dinner, and grab a drink at one of the many bars located along the shoreline.

At it’s mere beginnings, many sailors built their homes in what is now a super tourist site and these homes have been converted to chic bars.

Make sure you make time to stop by this stunning spot along your travel plans!

Old & New Port

The two harbours of Mykonos are “Old Port” or “Chora” and “New Port” or “Tourlos”. Old Harbour or Old Port is the main village of Mykonos  and you can easily visit New Port by ferries/boats/yachts.

Elia Beach

There are many beach choices in Mykonos to choose from. I am particularly partial to Elia beach because I spent my 23rd birthday here and it was truly a stunning and relaxing experience.  With elevated lounge chairs literally feet away from the ocean, palm umbrellas and a full-service food/bar brought right to you – this is the perfect get-away for the day.
